Nyilas Janos 

Nyilas has been making wine for 30 years in the Mátrallja region.  His wife and daughter help run the family vineyard. 

This is one of Hungary’s oldest wine regions located south of the Matra mountains.  Spring arrives late here and the mountain blocks the cold northerly winds while also arresting the precipitation.  The soil is rich black with volcanic rock rich in trace minerals.  This territory yields crisp aromatic wines which are quite full bodied.

Nyilas has witnessed the “Great Hungarian Wine Revolution” and has adapted his old world skills to new technologies and equipment.  The result is outstanding clean wines such as the Cabernet Franc and Pinot Grigio in our portfolio.
